Mrs. Ashley Wischmeyer
I grew up in Redford and spent my elementary years at Fisher, middle school years at Pierce and I am a Thurston graduate! I have been with South Redford School District for 8 years, starting with the district employee Child Care Center for 2 years, I then left to finish getting my Early Childhood Degree. I was then hired in 2011 to be the Kindergarten aide at Vandenberg Elementary, where I stayed for 5 years until I was hired in 2016 as the lead preschool teacher for the district Kindergarten Readiness Program. I believe that the early years of a child's life are so crucial to build the foundation for the next 13 years of their educational experience. I find it important to build a strong bond with the child and their family to make sure everyone feels welcome. I truly enjoy watching these children learn new concepts and the growth they make in just 1 year. My goal for each year is to give the students the base knowledge they need to make the transition into Kindergarten as easy and enjoyable as possible. I am honored to be apart of this program and the South Redford School District. Go Eagles!
Mrs. Barb Wyler
I have had the distinct honor and pleasure of teaching in the South Redford School District Preschool Program since 1997. I have always believed that we are a team, the family, the teachers and the child. Together we can learn and grow throughout the year and get ready for the best beginning for the next 13 years of your child's educational journey. I feel it is important to involve the family in the child's school experience as early as possible and our program tries to meet this goal each year with each family.
It is important to me that each child feel valued and respected in the classroom. We emphasize kindness, respect (for ourselves, others and property) and safety each day. We try to make their time here enjoyable and fun. It is important for them to be happy when they are learning that is when they do best at retaining anything taught.
I am proud to be a member of the South Redford School District that values the importance of our preschooler's and their families by offering this tuition free program for so many years. I also have had the opportunity to have had my 3 children attend this program. I keep in mind what my hopes and expectations were for my children and I try to implement the same for each child and their family.
